Solar Cell Inspection and Quality Assurance

The purpse of this preliminary Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plan (QAJQC Plan)’ is to outline the various processes and practices to be employed by Morris Ridge Solar Energy Center, LLC (MRSEC; the Applicant) and the contractor in constructing the Morris Ridge Solar Project (Project).

This QAIQC Plan summarizes the respmsibilities, præesses, practices, and controls that constitute the comprehensive This encompasses those and practices which, when performed, will lead to the assurance, verification and validation that the Quality requirements of construction documents, general conditions, and project specifications shall be satisfied.

Project requirement

To ensure quality and performance, solar cell inspection requires specialized tools like high-resolution cameras, EL imaging, thermal scanners, and IV testers. Supporting software handles image analysis, data logging, and report generation. The system must follow international standards and be operated by trained personnel for accurate, reliable results.
  • High-resolution Camera
  • Solar Simulator / Light Source
  • Computer/Embedded System
  • Data Acquisition System (DAQ)
  • Electroluminescence (EL) Imaging System
  • Multimeter / IV Curve Tracer
  • Image Processing Software
  • Reporting & Dashboard Tool

Solution & Result

We implemented an integrated solar cell inspection system combining advanced imaging (visual, EL, and thermal) with precise electrical testing.
This streamlined workflow enabled early detection of microcracks, hotspots, and efficiency losses

As a result, inspection accuracy improved by over 90%, defect rates were reduced significantly, and production quality aligned with international
standards. The solution also provided automated reporting, helping manufacturers optimize quality control and reduce costly field failures.
